May 10, 1935 ~ Oct. 2, 2008

Retired USCG Cmdr. Roland H. Buster, 73, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away in his home surrounded by his family, on Oct. 2, 2008. He was born in North Platte, NE, educated at the University of Portland, and was a member of the R.O.T.C. He served as a pilot in the Air Force and was a Commander in the US Coast Guard, flying C-130's on search and rescue missions.
Roland "Boots" Buster was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses, playing his guitar, singing, woodworking, oil painting, sailing, traveling and most of all, flying. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and had a witty sense of humor.

Roland was survived by his father, Retired Senior Master Sergeant Weldon Buster; children, Stephen (Crisanta), Timothy (Lydia), Rosemary Anderson, Michael, Elizabeth Libby, Julie, Robert (Mary Anne), Amy Ginter (Gerald); grandchildren, Nicole Keeler (Joseph), Micah, Katy and Timothy Buster, Jessica Morella (Ben), Bryan Glover, Rachel, Zoey and Michael Jagelski, Alyssa Siers (Josiah), Alex Libby, Aaron and Lauren Buster, Jeremy and Savannah Ginter; siblings, Delores Hamilton, Patricia DeArmond, Lolita Buster, Lorita DeFir (Ray), and Wanda Mitchell (Richard).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Faye Buster.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church located at 2310 SE 148th Avenue, Portland, OR at 12:00 p.m., Fri., Nov. 21, 2008. Honor Guard ceremony to follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
